QH ARTIST IN RESIDENCE VOCAL COACHING MASTERCLASS FOR CLASSICAL SINGERS

This is a 2-day immersive vocal coaching masterclass for vocal soloists.

It will be held on Tuesday 7th  & Wednesday 8th June at Queen’s Hall led by Dr. Richard Tang Yuk.

This workshop will offer serious classical singers an opportunity to be coached on their chosen repertoire by Dr. Richard Tang Yuk, who has recently returned to Trinidad and is offering various music workshops to guide and nurture our younger generation of musicians.

Coaching will cover style, interpretation, phrasing, intonation, diction, text painting, historical context as it informs performance, performance practice and other issues pertinent to the singer’s craft. Vocal coaching is quite a separate issue from vocal technique. This is not intended to be a voice lesson on technique.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Application will be by submission of a brief video of your singing (no more than 5 minutes) of either an aria or an art song. Slots for singers are limited, therefore you are encouraged to apply early. To apply, submit a short video singing a selection to richardtangyuk@gmail.com either as a youtube link, via dropbox, or wetransfer.com.

If accepted into the masterclass, singers will reserve their slot by paying the applicable fee, and present the same piece sung in their application video. Either an aria from an opera or oratorio, a lied, or art song in either English, German, French, Italian, Latin or Spanish. Foreign language selections are encouraged.

Singers will receive individual coaching time with Dr. Richard Tang Yuk on their selection.

ACCOMPANIST

Singers will be required to provide their own accompanist. Referrals can be provided upon request.

SCHEDULE
