The Black Collar Creative Foundation presents its inaugural fundraising event, The Black Collar Gala. This year’s theme is Classics and Calypsos.  Join us for an enchanting, uplifting and exciting evening of music featuring the dynamic Desperadoes Steel Orchestra, iconic parrandera Alicia Jaggasar, and the inimitable voices of Natalia Dopwell and Dr Edward Cumberbatch, with Alan Cooper on piano.

The foundation’s mission is to help build the local creative sector by providing small grant funding to creative practitioners, entities, non-profits, and schools for start-ups and projects while supporting and empowering their ability to engage in sustainable ventures.

The Black Collar Creative Foundation was established in memory of Janine Charles-Farray, following her sudden death in 2022.  A Marketing Strategist, Singer, Playwright, and passionate advocate for the arts, Janine, in her lifetime, devoted herself to empowering members of the creative sector in Trinidad and Tobago.  A significant highlight of this passionate advocacy was her work to support and help artists access funding during the pandemic through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

Black Collar Creative Foundation was incorporated and registered as a non-profit in October 2023. The foundation is grateful and fortunate to have Ms. Rhoma Spencer as its esteemed Patron.

In fulfilling its mission, the Foundation will routinely engage in fundraising activities.  We welcome donations and donor support to raise the resources for this work.

The Black Collar Gala: Classics and Calypsos is the first event on our calendar.  We look forward to your support and promise an evening of delight and enjoyment with a purpose.
