Back by Public Demand, The Love Movement will present “Colours of His Love” at Queen’s Hall on Friday October 4th and Saturday October 5th at 7:30pm. This musical feast received rave reviews from patrons at home and abroad eg: “It was an amazing evening, I am a New Yorker and can say without exaggeration, this magnificent experience could trump any Broadway Review I’ve ever seen” “Broadway would envy your talent”
The Love Movement, founded in 1972, is a Registered Charitable Organisation and has long outgrown the conventional confines of a choir, to become a truly unique organization with a life-changing mentoring program among the Country’s “At Risk” Youth. From a small church choir, to the life-force of hundreds of young people, The Love Movement is a light of hope and a source of fellowship for many young people seeking a sense of purpose and an opportunity for artistic expression. An entity, motivated by love, this Trinity of Choirs, with its one hundred and seventy members, the Senior Choir, the Republic Bank Youth Outreach Group and the Lights of Love Children’s Choir, offer holistic and social development to all, through the medium of the Performing Arts and Spiritual Guidance.
The success of their Mission to Heal Hearts and Change Lives One Note at a Time, is evident at their many concerts, which are used as the avenue to showcase the talents of these young people and provide them the opportunity to experience a level of achievement and self-worth. The raw untapped talent of its members is moulded into visually stunning performances, compared by many to the “The Best Seen On Broadway!” More significantly, they mature acquiring an understanding of the importance of hard work, commitment and self-sacrifice. These Children and Youth come from over 20 primary schools and 15 secondary schools and many of them are from underprivileged homes or live in institutions.
“Colours of His Love” will be an unforgettable experience for the entire Family with its blend of exciting music, choreography, costumes and stage design. The entire cast will begin the evening’s programme by giving thanks to God for His tremendous blessings with soul-stirring and popular Gospel songs. The Senior Choir and the Republic Bank Love Movement Youth Outreach Group will thrill its audiences with excerpts from The Lion King, the world’s best loved Broadway Musical. They will then feature highlights from The Greatest Showman, a movie, that recently took the world by storm. Featuring songs like “A Million Dreams”, “The Greatest Show”, “Never Enough” , “From Now On” and Oscar Nominated and Grammy Award winning song “This Is Me”. The Lights of Love Children’s Choir will perform selections from the movie Frozen, every Child’s favourite. The Senior Choir will pay tribute to Andrew Lloyd Webber with excerpts from his many musicals.
Musical and artistic direction is by Bernadette Scott, with Dr. Helmer Hilwig as Stage and Drama Director. Choreographers Francesca Vazzana, Janelle Spencer, Anneisha Skerritt-Wells and Lesley Lewis-Alleyne have been working tirelessly with the entire cast, producing exciting choreography which always adds that unique touch to Love Movement productions. The Technical Team for this production includes some of the Country’s best: Frank Agarratt assisted by Corey Burnham for sound, Celia Wells as lighting designer and stage set and decor design is by Randal Halfhide of Another Idea.
In view of the negativity plaguing the Country and the many challenges our Country’s “At Risk” Youth face, The Love Movement is committed to doing its part to reach out to Youth especially those from disadvantaged areas.
