Queen’s Hall presents a comprehensive, one-day symposium focused on Artificial Intelligence and the impact on the Performance Arts. This event is the first part of a series of discussions with artists, theorists, educators and industry professionals reflecting on the recent explosion of interest, use and questions surrounding AI and the Creative Sector.

AI has clearly emerged as a now ubiquitous tool. Its impact on art, and all of our social, intellectual and scientific practices, is only beginning to be understood. There’s no doubt that this is a profound transformation of the digital world. It is now time to learn about it, its consequences, its utility and its creativity.

The symposium, themed “Together A.I.” will explore the growing interactions existing between A.I. and the future of the Performing Arts in Trinidad and Tobago. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required (Click on GET TICKETS Tab).

There will be 2 panel discussions:
#1 Artificial Intelligence and the Performing Arts: The Caribbean Paradigm, and
#2 The potential Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Trinidad and Tobago Carnival

The symposium will begin promptly at 10:00am. It is strongly advised that attendees arrive early for check-in. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be a break between panel discussions.

Bios:

Leslie Lee Fook:  A name of legend in the business world. His revolutionary digital transformation strategies and expert knowledge are unrivalled, making him one of the most sought-after figures on Caribbean shores. His career spans over twenty years with experience in Analytics, Robotic Process Automation, and Artificial Intelligence. Typically serving enterprise and government customers, he aspires to create a globally competitive region using data which positively impacts every Caribbean life! He was also named as an honorary speaker at The CTU’s Prime Minister’s Summit which amassed over 100 leaders from across the region.  Leslie believes that we all someday will become data citizens. He hopes to tap into the deeply creative nature of our Caribbean people so we can foster development in a community that’s highly sought after for its talent and expertise, transforming us into the “India for Analytics.”

Ainka Williams: Infectious on-screen energy, magnetic presence and authenticity dovetail to create immersive experiences in an array of contexts, whether hosting live or recorded productions, as a digital media presenter or as the main driving force behind live activations. Ainka is a practitioner in media with over half a decade of experience across multiple local and regional networks including Slam 100.5fm, Next 99.1fm, TV6, CNC3, Synergy TV, Flow Sports and TTT.  For now, you can find her across digital platforms as a micro influencer to hundreds of thousands via AinkaWill868, but rest assured, Ainka will be coming to another screen and frequency near you soon.

Carl “Beaver” Henderson: One of the Caribbean’s most experienced musician/producers.  He produces in studio and Show Production at any level. Mainly in the area of Soca and Calypso but also the producer of one of the biggest Reggae hit songs in the Caribbean, “Ganja Farmer” performed by recording artiste Marlon Asher. He produces what can be described as Caribbean Pop Music, which encompasses all genres of Caribbean Music including Calypso, Soca, World Dance, Electronic Soca and Reggae.

Keith Laban: An ICT educator for the past 20 years, an innovator and founder of Startl, the Caribbean’s first Mixed Reality company, where they developed the region’s first Augmented Reality platform. He is also the founder of SoftDev Interactive, a company highly focused on the development of Game-based learning systems and innovative Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 ICT solutions for Schools and Businesses.

La Shaun Prescott: Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Trinidad and Tobago holding an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of the West Indies (UWI), and an MFA in Dance from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.  Her touring experience includes Europe, Canada, the USA and the Caribbean as lead dancer and choreographer with the world-renowned Soca King Machel Montano for 7 years, as well as 22 states in USA with international artiste Pitbull. She has taught Soca Dance, Caribbean Contemporary and dance fitness workshops in South Africa, Australia, France, London, New York, Atlanta, Miami, Guadeloupe and Martinique.

Rayshawn Pierre: An award-winning Storyteller, Theatre Director, Performer and published Cultural Researcher. Her creative work is anchored in using Caribbean, specifically Trinbagonian folk narratives and traditional lore for the purposes of education and entertainment. She has had her Performing Arts work featured in Carifesta and other regional festivals.

Pierre’s work spans the domains of festival theatre, educative theatre, theatre-in-education, theatre for children and young people and flagship theatre events. As the former Artistic Programme Manager for UWI’s Arts-in-Action, she has explored the growing relationship between theatre, technology and new media.

Vishnu Balroop: Audio Visual Systems Design Engineer and Chief Executive Officer of The BalroopGroup. He possesses extensive expertise of business ownership, technology and sound engineering central to the company’s reputation as one of the leading providers in the entertainment industry. As a graduate of Full Sail University of Orlando, Florida, he studied audio engineering, recording arts, lighting technology and communications in radio and television where he was able to respond to the evolving demands of the industry. In addition, he expanded his knowledge in Integrated and low voltage systems, Sound Masking Systems, SIA smart architectural and acoustical noise control at SYNAUDCON Institute, Project Management, Business Management, Real Estate, Facilities and Building Management.

Vishnu Balroop is a member of professional societies such as The Audio Engineering Society, U.S.A. National Sound and Contractors Association, U.S.A.,Infocom Academy, ICIA, Rotary Club of St Augustine, Hindi Foundation of Trinidad and Tobago, Zoological Society of Trinidad and Tobago, Greater Tunapuna Chamber of Industry and Commerce, TT Chamber, TTMA, AMCHAM amongst many others.

Jayron Rawkus Remy: DJ, Television Host, Event Host, Event Producer, Music Producer, & Sound Engineer – these are some of the skills that Jayron “Rawkus” Remy has gathered over his 18 years in the entertainment industry. Popularly known for hosting Vintage Unplugged, he currently co-hosts The Now Morning show on TTT and The Saturday Brunch on Talk City 91.1fm. Jeyron is also the DJ/sequencer for Freetown Collective and 3canal.

Dr. Kela Nnarka Francis: Program Leader of the Academy of Arts, Letters, Culture, and Public Affairs and an Assistant Professor at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. She earned her PhD in Caribbean Literature from Howard University in 2012 and continues to research topics in Caribbean literature, culture, and society. She is particularly interested in the secular rituals in the Caribbean and the wider African diaspora.

Valmiki Maharaj: Co-founder, band leader and Creative Director of THE LOST TRIBE. Since the band’s launch in 2015, Valmiki’s unique style of leadership and creative perspective has grown and developed THE LOST TRIBE, not just as a mas band, but as a creative hub for artists expressing themselves through the medium of costume design.  Valmiki’s induction into Carnival was in the workshop of veteran mas producer Wayne Sankar where he first dabbled in the art of costume design and construction.

Carla Parris: Entertainment and Sports Lawyer with a master’s degree in Entertainment & Intellectual Property Law. She is a board member of the Inter American Development Bank’s Next Gen Board, a Web & TV series Producer and an Intellectual Property Law Academic.  Her company Parris Productions Ltd produces a Web & TV series The Business Of Carnival ®, an educational talk show featuring Caribbean celebrities and well-known entrepreneurs in which the legal and business aspects of the carnival industry are discussed. The series is currently streaming on the Roku Channel and all Roku devices across the United States, UK and Canada.

Jules Sobion: Founder, CEO & Commander-In-Chief of Caesar’s Army Ltd., the event management and production company established in 2006, Jules has spearheaded the growth of a global organisation that produces some of the region’s most sought-after events and experiences. With over 20 years’ experience in successfully building, managing and championing brands, Jules Sobion has become a key architect in revolutionising the local and regional entertainment landscape. Jules has also changed the game in the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Festival realm as the Creative Director of the world-renowned ROGUE Mas Band. CZAR Theatre, offers executive producer services and has made its mark as executive producer for the stage production MAS – Magic and Spirit. Also springing from CZAR is The Mas Movement Ltd, the embodiment of Jules’ dedication to building an inclusive global movement that amplifies Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival Culture.

Alvern Porter: Creative, multi-camera and technical director, Alvern is also skilled at post-production editing with a graphic design background, and currently hold a Drone Pilot Operator License for the United Kingdom. For over fifteen years, he has led multiple projects which include live-production events, post-production, stage design and every day run of the mill graphics.  His expertise has taken him across the globe; United Kingdom, United States, and the Caribbean, as he has had the pleasure of working with production companies; Black Apron Limited, A Brave New and Advance Dynamics.  Alvern has also worked on several live productions; Machel Monday, Soca Monarch, Woodside Energy, BP, and Sony.  Alvern has had experience using Artificial Intelligence in programs like Photoshop, Final Cut, After Effects and Siri, my own virtual assistant.
